So … What Have I been Up To?
Happy Summer, Everyone! I know summer doesn’t officially start till June 20th, but it’s been so wonderfully warm here at Lake of the Ozarks (low to mid-80s), that to me, it’s SUMMER!! 😎
Unfortunately, the month of May and first part of June have been marked by two negative events and one good one, so I’ll start with the negative.
First of all, the love of my life, Keith Lessman, had his second knee replacement mid-May, and we were ecstatic because the doc said he was eligible for a partial knee replacement, which meant a 1-month recovery vs. 3 months and no hospital stay, so YAY!
Regrettably, once the doc got in there, there was so much arthritis that poor Keith had to have a full replacement and poor Julie had to stay in the recovery hotel with him with no change of clothes for either of us, no toothbrushes, no contact cleaner, no makeup or other toiletries. Not a pretty picture, trust me.
But, the good news is that Keith’s recovery has been amazing, so instead of having to wait a full month to drive, he was driving after two weeks! I guess he’d rather risk the health of his new knee rather than his mental/emotional state with my driving him everywhere because he HATES that!
Secondly, after much time and expense, I had the prettiest garden I’ve ever had at the Lake (painfully notorious for its rocky soil). Despite extensive deer netting to keep the deer out, one pushy guy got in and annihilated all of my hard work, which literally made me break down and cry. So, here we are, first part of June, and my garden is almost gone for the rest of the year. For the first time in my life, I actually contemplated taking up deer hunting!

AND NOW FOR THE GOOD EVENT … I had the privilege of attending my 55th high school reunion, and yes, I really am that old! I had a wonderful time reconnecting with a truly wonderful class of ’69!
We’re no spring chickens by a long shot, but hey, I don’t think we look too bad for oldies but goodies at seventy-three, do you?
A Title for my Devotional
(& Free e-Book if You Voted!)
Well, my memoir devotional—original title, The Plight of Windowsill Jesus—is over halfway finished! I’m starting on my thirteenth chapter, which in the beginning was all I intended it to be–approximately thirteen or fourteen chapters. But God keeps giving me new chapters to put in, so now I’m up to twenty. YIKES!! Who knows? Before I’m done, it may be as long as one of my novels!!
MEGA HUGS to everyone who sent me an email voting for the titles you liked best from my last blog because you won a free e-book! Just shoot me an email at my CONTACT JULIE tab of my website and I will send you a free e-book from any of the indie e-books on the BOOKS tab of except for my latest, A Dare and a Prayer.
And now, the winning title is (or at least I think it is … I can be fickle, you know!) …

30%-Off Sale on A Dare and a Prayer
Yep, Henry’s STILL ON SALE, a 30% reduction over the release price! So, I hope you take advantage to get this 4.7-star World War 2 novel that’s drawing amazing reviews like the following:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “LESSMAN HAS CRAFTED AN EXQUISITE MASTERPIECE! This novel is a must read for those who are praying and believing for prodigals to come home. Henry and Amy’s story is edgy and raw. However, hope softly whispers though the pages. Lessman has gracefully handled the child trafficking issue. This is not an easy story but a necessary one. It is Ms. Lessman’s best work to date!”— Caryl Kane, Amazon reviewer
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Five plus stars is what I will be giving A Dare and a Prayer. I believe fans of historical romance with strong emphasis of strong women during the World War II era, will definitely want to give this one a read.” — Locks, Hooks, & Books blog
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “The spiritual lessons pack a punch, they convict, they remind, they are full of the rich truths of God’s Word. When I finished the last page I literally wanted to go back and read it again because I missed the characters so much.” — My Favorite Pastime blog
